Strengthened by Trials: The Story of Nile Scanlan

by MEDIA PASEFIKA INC on September 4, 2019September 7, 2019

Story by: Kryssa Stevenson It takes a lot of strength to keep up with BYUH senior Nile Scanlan. A full-time wife, mother, student, and businesswoman, Nile’s crazy schedule requires high levels of mental, physical, and emotional stamina. Parts of her daily routine include going to school, working out, watching the kids, cooking dinner, spending time […]

Burn Out Journals continued: Before getting to the point of Burn Out be sure to take care of three important elements: 1. Your Mind: Take care of your thoughts, what you allow into your Head Space is just important as what you put into your bodies. Taking care of your mind, takes care of your world. 2. Your Physical Body: Move your body, get in tune with your body, listen to your body. Learn the signs your body gives you when you begin to stress, when you don’t feel well, when you’re triggered, etc. Know when to begin step back and give your yourself space to come back to your place of balance and peace. 3. Take Care of Your Spirit: My personal go-to for spiritual check has been meditation. I began practicing meditation a bit more consciously in the past 6 months and have seen huge improvements in my mental state. I’ve seen less anxious days, less irritable days, less days worried about things that don’t matter and I owe it to meditation. My spiritual health has never been better so I encourage you my sisters and friends to find something that brings you to a more balanced state. Whether this is something physical like running, stretching, etc. or spiritual like praying, meditation, etc. practicing what brings you more spiritual balance is vital to helping you stay connected to yourself and preventing burn out early on. These 3 elements have helped me to become more connected to myself and learning to prevent burn out and when close to it to practice these 3 things to help me navigate myself back to a balanced state. #tuesdaytips #selfcaretips #burnoutprevention #practiceselflove #iamladypasifika #knowyourbody #trustyourintuition #creatingpasifikagirlmagic #nomoreburnout #knowwhentoletgo #pasifikagirlmana
Happy Sunday sisters! Grand Rising on this beautiful Sunday. Today’s burnout journal lesson: Trust Your Intuition. The process is tough, you’ll go through trials, moments of doubt, etc. but don’t despair. Know that you are on the right track and you are right on time. Trust your gut, trust your intuition because you know what’s best for you, best for you vision and your purpose. Don’t worry about what’s going on around you, pay no attention to the trends that pop up here and there, classics are always in style. Be classic. #classicasalways #trendscomeandgo #bealeader #creatingpasifikagirlmagic #knowyourworth #youareamazing #trustyourintuition #iamladypasifika #sheisslaying #sisiswinning #pasifikagirlmana
It’s a weekend vibe! And we’re here to remind you that S E L F C A R E isn’t the same for everyone. Some are able to delve into self care and some have a hard time gifting themselves the gift of self-love. For our community of sisters and friends, take your time to get yourself to where you come back to yourself. It’s not a competition, sis. #selfcare #selflove #selfcareisntselfish #takeyourtime #iamladypasifika #loveyourself #pasifikagirlmana #creatingpasifikagirlmagic #love
Lesson #1: Listen to your body. Your body will begin to start showing you signs, that she’s exhausted. Breakouts, irritability, eating patterns are out of whack-these are early signs of exhaustion and that you need to take a break. When you don’t heed the early warning signs, you could get really sick. I’m still recovering from a bad cold this entire past week and have taken a couple days away from Lady Pasifika to try and truly rest up. When building organizations, companies, learning something new, working all hours, taking care of someone else, etc. we all reach our breaking point. Again, I didn’t learn from my many previous experiences of burn out that I ended up getting sick even when I tried not to. Listen to your body sisters-she’s so important and what gets you through the toughest times. Appreciate her and listen to her-she knows what’s up. #iamladypasifika #burnoutjournals #recoveringworkaholic #dotheworkwhenitfeelsright #guidedbymyancestors #creatingpasifikagirlmagic #pasifikawomen #daughtersofthemoana #pasifikagirlmana
Remember the big picture: you have the power inside you from your ancestors. You are filled with their wisdom, their awareness, their MANA. Nothing is more powerful than that. You are the spirit of your ancestors, in the flesh. Next time you feel you aren’t important-remember this. #istandontheshouldersofgiants #icomefromalonglineofstrongwomen #strongwomen #foundation #weknowwhoweare #creatingpasifikagirlmagic #neversurrender #nevergiveup #iamladypasifika #pasifikagirlmana
