Very honored to have our first guest writer Me Fuimaono-Poe, FNP-BC, on our blog sharing her personal essay on why Samoans should advocate and stand for Mauna Kea.
Last month, we lost a dear friend and incredibly positive and beautiful spirit. Leanne was a champion for Pacific Islander Film Making & Storytellers sharing authentic stories of our Pasifika communities. Leanne was one of our first subscribers when we ran annual subscriptions and believed in our mission from our very first meeting @caffestival in 2018. We are sad to have lost such a beautiful spirit but we are comforted in the legacy she has left in the work she has championed for and supported. Rest in power and love, Leanne, we already miss you so much. Mahalō for all your support and love for our communities. A Hui Ho, warrior sister. •Repost from @picpacific- Leanne Kaʻiulani Ellen Kang Ferrer was a force of nature.
Where your attention goes, your energy will flow. Where you focus your energy on, guess what? You’ll be consumed by. What you allow in your headspace to distract you from the very important work you’ve got to do, again, will knock you off your game. We all lose focus, from time to time, but don’t stay in that space-don’t allow distraction to become habit. Once they’ve got you down, guess what? You’ve let them stop you from delivering your gift to the world and that, is a tragedy. Time is limited, step wisely, step forward. Ever so slightly but surely, forward. #sundayjournaling #messagesfromtheuniverse #spiritualcheckin #iamladypasifika
Starting off Saturday early with some #werk & TLC. Stay safe everyone & celebrate life, celebrate the new day, remembering those we honor and carry on who have transitioned as we continue the work here on the ground. Making my saimigi (best hangover cure! Lol), ki & opening up my laptop to get sh*t done. Be safe ya’ll! #mindyabusiness #2022comingforyou #iamladypasifika
I am not religious, but my heart and spirit are saddened knowing that you have left this world. Always encouraging, never judged me and my sometimes “strong” stance and/ or messages lol you stood by, prayed over us, prayed for our work to move our communities to be empowered & fearless in pursuit of our vision and goals. Pastor Taeao was one of our speakers at our 2019 Brunch Event which sold out twice! We know she was a major mover and inspiration behind so much of the positivity that came from that morning. May your light continue to shine and guide us when we are discouraged. Rest in power, Pastor. #iamladypasifika
Happy Māori Language Week! We are a bit late but loving this celebration of identity and culture from our Māori-Sāmoan sister! So much mana and life!!! •
In this energy this week, a lot going on, but we are so excited to announce that production on our Summer/ Fall issue “Warrior” is finally underway. Thank you for your patience, it’s been a journey these past couple months but we’re returning w/ our “Warrior” issue who will also inspire you to rough through those tough times and get sh*t done! Vision and mindset are everything. They keep you going, they keep you accountable and fed when you’re hungry for inspiration, motivation and direction. Almost Friday here in Hawai’i, let’s finish the work week strong! #mindsetiseverything #hellomotivation #2022comingforyou #patienceinthebecoming #iamladypasifika #WARRIOR #creatingmagiksince2018
