In no way, are we, am I “certified, an expert, have the credentials” to advise, coach, or mentor anyone on “finding your place” in this vast black hole of masterclasses, money/business/life coaches available to you but in doing this work for the last 10 years (way before Lady Pasifika) there’s been nuggets of wisdom thru trial and error, feedback, reading, learning from others, etc. that I’ve picked up along the way and let me tell you, the past 2 years have been the messiest. These little nuggets I’d like to share as I feel there are MANY of us, trying to navigate our way thru life whether on and/ or off social media and sometimes we just need a little help. Hoping this helps anyone out there just surfing the web, scrolling, searching, etc. I’m with you, searching, learning, yearning, etc. and never will be done learning ever. #iamladypasifika
With our Summer issue underway, there is still the threat of COVID-19 rampant in the islands and across the globe, yet many remain unvaccinated. This is an interesting time in our communities and of course, we want the safety and health equity for our communities in the region but also want to open up this very sensitive conversation for different points of view on why many of us (Pasifika communities) are hesitant and/ or completely against the COVID-19 vaccination(s). There is a very deep history of mistrust of our communities in our governments but we want to know more from you. Please DM us with your insight or if you’d like to share your manatu (thought) in the comments please do BUT, please keep your comments, whether you are FOR or AGAINST, the vaccine(s), respectful. This is an open discussion to help bring some insight on both sides on a deeply personal topic. The only way forward to is open up these conversations, address the wounds and find a way forward together. Division is not our way. Please help us by providing your thoughts. We are open to DM also if you’d like to remain anonymous. Fa’afetai lava! #iamladypasifika #toughtalanoa #warriorissue #summerissue #covid19
Moving forward sometimes can be scary, unpredictable and daunting but looking to our ancestors and the journeys they endured and successfully navigated fill us with pride and reassurance that we too, will find our way, no matter the distance and/ or length of time. The wisdom comes in the journey, the experiences and lifelong connections we make-those are the true riches. #iamladypasifika #wisdomseeker #wayfinders #navigators #pasifikagirlmana
“The people cannot exist without the land, and the land cannot exist without the people.” -Kumu Haunani Kay Trask • We mourn the loss of such an important icon to our Pasifika communities. We are saddened by the passing of such a vital, resilient advocate for our Kanaka ‘Oiwi communities and one we look to for guidance and courage in demanding our voices be heard and acknowledged. Aloha Kumu Haunani Kay Trask for your service and dedication. There will never be another like you. #iamladypasifika #pasifikafemaleleaders #haunanikaytrask #aloha #fearless #kanakamaoli #kanakaoiwi #hawaiianleader #hawaiianadvocate #alohaoe
Just had me some coffee (my morning routine!) and she’s feeling goood! Gratitude, confidence, excitement, inspired, etc. all vibes I’m so grateful to be in at this moment. This post is for my sisters across the Moana dealing with low vibrational sh*t praying for a way out, praying for a sign, praying for wellness, I don’t have all the answers but seeking purpose and your passion and truths, living those truths and tuning out all the noise/ distractions, is a step I took and brought me out of a lot of self doubt (although I still have moments of self doubt-it’s a process sis) and anxiety about “how, when, etc.” Set the vision, write it out, journal it out, talk to the Universe, Divine, God, your Ancestors about it, believe, know, trust they will come to pass and continue taking steps (aka TAKE ACTION) towards your vision(s). This did not happen overnight nor are we stopping anytime soon. It’s a marathon baby, building genuine connections and relationships over time, with the right people at the right time. Enjoy your week sisters while I enjoy my coffee and get back to work. #morningthoughts #coffeemoments #iamladypasifika #purposefulposting #purposeoverpopularity #youabadassbish #celebrateYOU #PasifikaGirlMana
With all the hate driven headlines in Hawai’i recently & false narratives spread about members of our communities, we are heartbroken at the outpouring of hatred, bigotry and uneducated, arrogant comments from our communities to those who just want transparency and justice for their loved ones. There are issues across the board but what is extremely concerning is the brainwashing our community has been under by media outlets hellbent on continuing to portray people of color here in Hawai’i in the most negative light possible. There is so much more to us than what your news source depicts about us. This is why @ladypasifika was born. We’ve been fighting this fight on the back end and continue to stand beside our brothers and sisters in our communities who demand transparency from our institutions & a factual review of the actions taken by police officers regarding incidents that have resulted in the unjust deaths of our community members. Justice is for ALL. We are MORE than the false narratives spun about us. #iamladypasifika #backthetruth #transparencynow #saytheirnames
